By 2030, nearly a fifth of the population in the USA will be considered elderly, and automobile manufacturers are preparing for the uptick senior car buyers by finding new technologies that will help these demographics the road.
One of the coolest ideas GM is looking at a windshield is likely to strengthen a vision of the driver using infrared sensors , lasers and cameras or highlight the outline of the state roads.
In teaches example, on a foggy day, the windshield describes the road with a blue laser. The system to measure movements of the driver's head and eyes to project the laser path correctly. In addition, if a deer to wander into the road system to detect and alert the driver indicating the deer before it is visible.
Cool, huh?
Obviously, the cost of implementing this technology today is prohibitive, we should not expect to see GM's Sweet new windshield so soon. Moreover, with a rapidly ageing consumer base, it could well be a prediction of how to lead will change in the future.
